Shoppers and merchants are reminded that under the Retail Business Holidays Act, both Good Friday – March 29, 2024, and Easter Sunday – March 31, 2024, are among the designated holidays annually when most retail stores must be closed.
The Act, administered by the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services, exempts some retail operations, including but not limited to, gas stations, gardening centres and flower shops.

This Notice provides important information for those members of the public who were planning to attend the originally scheduled March 25, 2024, Public Meeting for the establishment of fees for the administration of the City’s Accommodation Licensing By-law No. 130-2022.

Please note that Albert Street, between Nile Street and Front Street, will be closed to through traffic starting Monday, March 24, 2024, as the reconstruction of Albert Street resumes.
This temporary closure is expected to last for approximately 9 weeks, until late May.
The work will include watermain and sewer replacement, road and sidewalk construction and landscaping on the section of Albert Street between Nile Street and Front Street.

On March 25, 2024, Stratford City Council approved three-year collective agreements with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 197 and Local 1385.
CUPE Local 197 represents 41 full-time outside workers, and CUPE 1385 represents 133 full-time and 45 part-time inside workers.
Both agreements are effective from January 1, 2023 until December 31, 2025, and have been ratified by members of CUPE Local 197 and CUPE Local 1385.
