The City of Stratford and the County of Perth have each received a commitment of $1,449,345 in provincial funding through the Ministry of Transportation’s Community Transportation Grant Program to establish new public transit for a pilot period of five years.
With its commitment, the City of Stratford, together with Perth County and its member municipalities, and the Town of St. Marys, will create an inter-regional transit service connecting London, St. Mary's, Stratford and Kitchener. Service between Listowel and Kitchener is also planned.
A separate but related Perth County commitment will create a transit system to link the communities of Stratford, St. Marys, Mitchell, Sebringville, Monkton, Atwood, Milverton, Listowel and Millbank.
Please note that all routes, fares, schedules and costings related to both commitments remain to be finalized. Co-ordination with other transit systems (e.g. GO Transit, VIA) is a priority consideration.
A bus carrier will be selected through a competitive process, and the new transportation services are expected to launch in the spring of 2019.
