Starting next week, the City of Stratford will begin its spring hydrant flushing.
This is something we do twice a year – typically in the spring and fall – to clean out some of the iron deposits that build up over time in the City’s watermains, and as preventative maintenance.
You may temporarily experience discoloured water as a result of this flushing process, but water quality is not affected. Discoloured water will clear, but it’s best to wait until it has cleared before doing laundry.

Shoppers and merchants are reminded that under the Retail Business Holidays Act, both Good Friday – March 29, 2024, and Easter Sunday – March 31, 2024, are among the designated holidays annually when most retail stores must be closed.
The Act, administered by the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services, exempts some retail operations, including but not limited to, gas stations, gardening centres and flower shops.

This Notice provides important information for those members of the public who were planning to attend the originally scheduled March 25, 2024, Public Meeting for the establishment of fees for the administration of the City’s Accommodation Licensing By-law No. 130-2022.

Please note that Albert Street, between Nile Street and Front Street, will be closed to through traffic starting Monday, March 24, 2024, as the reconstruction of Albert Street resumes.
This temporary closure is expected to last for approximately 9 weeks, until late May.
The work will include watermain and sewer replacement, road and sidewalk construction and landscaping on the section of Albert Street between Nile Street and Front Street.
